
These annual awards spotlight the best and worst of media for nursing
We are now accepting nominations for the Truth About Nursing awards, which recognize the most notable – best and worst – media about nursing in 2022! Through these annual awards, we inform media creators, the nursing community, and the wider public about the accuracy of nursing portrayals in the media today. The end goal is to improve understanding of the profession, which we believe will increase the respect and resources it receives.
Categories
Best nurse-created media that reaches the public (beyond the nursing community), in the following categories:
Film maker / writer
Television maker / writer
Social media creator or advocate – e.g., Twitter, Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, YouTube
Blogger
Radio, TV, or Web-based host
Media expert or health commenter (any medium)
Researcher or innovator who wins media attention
Creator of live performances / plays
Fiction writer
Non-fiction writer: articles or op-eds
Writer of children’s books, games, toys, action figures
Halloween costume creator
Museum exhibit creator
Other: If you know of good work in a category that is not listed above, please still submit it to us, we are open to more categories for worthy media
Media created by non-nurses: Best and worst
Of course, we also give out awards to non-nurses who create media. The Truth About Nursing awards are for the best and worst media depictions of nursing in public media. Through the awards, we highlight for media creators not only what to aim for, but what to avoid.
To submit nominations
Send a short description of why the person creating the media deserves an award, along with a hyperlink or other way to see the media (if possible) to awards@truthaboutnursing.org no later than January 31, 2023. Feel free to nominate colleagues, friends, family, or even yourself! Those receiving “Best” awards will also receive a gift certificate.

Nurse Jackie was right on . There is one scene where newbie nurse’s stethoscope was borrowed and not returned by a surgeon. This actually happened to me. It was a cardiac stethoscope The downside of the series is the drug addicted main character Jackie . It could lead to the impression of drug addicted nurses and stolen sex on a guerney was a regular occuran ce. Nurses are overworked and underpaid. As a retired RN I can say that it was the first realistic portrayal of nursing
